God Planned Deviation – MFI Recovery Main Center
At the beginning of each year, we pray that God will open our hearts to divine appointments – moments that God has pre-ordained to show His glory. Sometimes I think we are often surprised when those moments cross our path.
God don’t you know that our schedule is planned, we have to be here at this time and we have to keep to that – we say in our hearts. He replies,
Don’t you know I make your schedule and I know what my children need?
Tuesday morning was one such case. We had the wrong address for the concert and we pulled into the main center for the MFI Recovery Center. We were greeted on the steps by women taking their morning smoke break. We began unloading the bus, only to find this was the wrong place – these women needed a touch of the Holy Spirit – it must have been one of those days.
As our kids piled off the bus & the equipment got put back on – we sang to them – one song – one divine moment – one touch from the Lord’s hand to these ladies who are working at restoring their lives, detoxing from the drugs and alcohol and looking to give their children a better life. One song, that’s all it took to make their day or week or month and give them hope of better tomorrow. As I write these words in Starbucks, I am fighting back the tears because we were not supposed to be there. If the address had not been wrong on our schedule, we would never have been in that parking lot, by those stairs, unloading that equipment.
Looking into the eyes of these women, you could see their pain and you could see the twinkle of hope – a twinkle that wasn’t there when they woke up in the morning. You know what’s even more amazing, they woke up thinking that today was going to be like any other day, but today became a real-life encounter with the Living God – its a modern day “woman at the well” story.
As we piled on the bus, Rachel & Lauren exited the bus to give some stuffed animals to the little kids. You see it wasn’t just an encounter with the Living God for the women, it was an encounter for our kids as well. Sometimes the most precious moments are the ones where we get out of the way & let God do His thang!
Don’t you know I make your schedule and I know what my children need?
