A New Home – Ventura County Rescue Mission

2009 April 25

vcrmOn Friday nite, we hit the road to begin Mini-Tour.  Forty-Five minutes north on the 101 freeway and a quick turn to the south we found our first concert – Ventura County Rescue Mission.  In the past, this has been a wonderful concert venue for us.  Disembarking in the alley adjacent to the mission, we arrived to see a long line of men and women waiting to be served a delicious meal that would hopefully fill their empty bellies.  The faces of the men and women who lined the alley, look pretty much like you and me – a little more worn and batter than us – but just like us none-the-less.

After dealing with some sound issues (Satan sure didn’t want us there), we were up and running.  We sang to about 80 men in the program – a recovery program.  This is a place where men can get clean, learn about the life-changing message of Jesus Christ, and learn that there is a hope.  Ventura County Rescue Mission serves as a new home for people who need hope.

The house of God at the Ventura County Rescue Mission was rocking.  People were dancing, raising hands and entering into the presence of God.  Hope has a new home!
